HISTORY OF BODHINI
A Carmelite Monastery [CARMEL MOUNT] was constructed in the Year 2008 at Vythiri. It occupies six acres of land, which is under the jurisdiction of Calicut diocese, situated in the Wayanad district of Kerala State.
In the year 2018 the community at Carmel decided to convert Carmel Mount Monastery to Meditation Centre under the initiative of Fr. James Manthra OCD who had just returned after his specialized studies in Christian Mindfulness Meditation. Towards the end of the same year, under the direction of Fr. MANTHRA expansion of the building began so as to make it viable to serve the purpose.
On 19 July 2019 at 4.00 pm Bodhini the School of Christian Meditation was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Augustine Mullor OCD, the Provincial of Manjummel Province (2017-2020) and it was blessed by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Varghese Chakkalakkal, Bishop of Calicut. In the year 2021, Bodhini was formed as a religious Trust certified by the Government of India.
